Here's
Your Chance to Join Our Team! |
|
--- Experienced Financial Editor
Wanted --- |
We're looking for an experienced editor to assist us in putting together several
of our publications. Here's a closer look at the details . . .
Position:
Full-Time
Compensation: Negotiable Based on Level of
Experience
Location: Austin, Texas (#1 preference) or
Washington D.C. Metro Area
(#2 preference). Telecommuting
from a home office is also an option. |
StreetAuthority.com is looking for someone to edit several
of our monthly newsletters, provide a strong contribution to our research
team, and contribute
occasional written articles to our various publications. The
writing style we'd like to see is both professional and highly
personal -- we're not just providing information, we're also
showcasing the
personality and the expertise of the people behind our
newsletters.
This is an excellent opportunity to enter an editorial position
in an established and growing company, and also to gain widespread
exposure
in the financial media. Another important item to keep in mind is
that StreetAuthority is not in the business of covering daily
stock market news. We provide long-term investing analysis and ideas,
and all of our information is backed by solid fundamental
research.
Qualified candidates should have a
passion for the stock market, a strong background in equity
research, management experience, and solid writing/editing skills.
In addition, they should have excellent oral communication skills.
Qualified candidates will need to have
actively followed the U.S. equity markets on a daily basis
throughout the past decade (or longer). The ideal candidate will
also have an extensive portfolio of stock-market-related articles
for our staff to review.
Position
Duties
• Edit a portion of StreetAuthority's
published material, including newsletters, research reports, and
web site articles. Although it's important to catch spelling and
grammar mistakes, the most important role of an editor is to
adjust and improve upon the actual content itself by providing
critical feedback and suggestions to our writers. This task
requires in-depth knowledge of complex financial concepts, as well
as a solid understanding of the current stock market environment.
• Assist our research team and our
writers in uncovering a steady stream of new investing ideas
(primarily stocks, ETFs and closed-end funds). Work with our
current writers and researchers to continually improve the
performance of our model portfolios.
• Contribute occasional written
articles to our monthly newsletters.
• Determine editorial direction --
assist with the development of new newsletters, survey existing
readers, and constantly
work to improve our products.
Requirements
Qualified candidates will need to meet
all of the following strict requirements...
Required Education:
• Bachelor's degree in finance or
economics (at the very minimum). MBA degree preferred, but not
required.
• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) --
candidates need to either be working towards this designation, or
be willing to enroll in a CFA program within the first two months
of employment
Required Experience:
• Several years of previous
experience at one or more of the following organizations: an
investment bank, brokerage, hedge fund, mutual fund, or another
financial publishing firm.
• Intimate knowledge of how to research
investment ideas and use fundamental analysis to find high-quality investment
opportunities.
• Several years of experience in financial
editing / writing.
How
to Apply
We would like to find someone with the
experience and passion to make our newsletters and content the
absolute best available. We would prefer to hire a candidate who
is willing to work in the Austin, TX or the Washington D.C. metro
area, but telecommuting from a home office is also an option.
To express your interest in this
position, please send the following:
1.)
A copy of your current resume
2.) Two or three recent writing samples. This
writing MUST cover the U.S. or foreign equity markets. It
should both display your writing style and showcase the
depth and quality of your equity research skills.
3.) A cover letter that provides a brief
explanation of why you're interested in the position, and
why you feel it will be a good fit for all parties
involved.
4.) Written answers to each of the following
questions . . .
-- What are the first steps you take when searching for a
high-quality investment idea?
-- What fundamental characteristics do you look for in a
good investment?
-- Explain your investing track record. How successful
have your investments been over time? Can you document
your previous investing history?
-- What are you currently investing in now, and why?
-- What is your favorite source of written financial
analysis / investing ideas? What do you like about this
company's writing / research?
-- Do you have previous experience in the financial
newsletter industry? |
When you've completed all of the steps above, please submit all requested materials
by filling out the form below. We appreciate your interest in working with
StreetAuthority!

Income Security
of the Month
Our "Income Security of the Month" for May 2008 invests in
a fast-growing overseas market that doesn't get much exposure in the
mainstream financial press. And although it typically makes enormous
annual dividend payments -- it has paid an average dividend of 24.5%
per year over the past five years -- this fund is perhaps most
appealing for its total return potential. Specifically, the fund has
delivered total returns of +297.3% since 2003, and
it ranks in the top 10% of its category over the past decade.
